Student's inspiration...
Life as a student:
My
life as a student has been enriched by my beloved spiritual
teacher Sri Chinmoy who moved to the West in 1964. His spiritual instruction has taught me about the reality of both my normal physical self and my higher spiritual self. Yes these
are two distinct aspects of my life, connected but quiet different. In
fact the spiritual self relies on the physical self to help it manifest
itself through action and deeds. While the physical self relies on the spiritual self for its pure
thoughts, and deeper awareness of compassion, selflessness and joy.

And what brought me to being a student - predominantly unhappiness and discontentment. I
was raised in the West and found
that my life and its varied experiences had not given me any real depth of fulfilment. So what has changed, the limited 'me', the person who
was unsatisfied, previously aware of only an external reality.
The difference now - contentment and inner happiness. Not
momentary joy subject to changes in my outer circumstances, but
a deeper unconditional happiness. Sri Chinmoy's teachings reveal the unparalleled heights of his own inner achievements and experiences.
The level from which Sri Chinmoy writes brings to the spiritual seeker a rare immediacy and insight into the supreme joy and unfolding perfection of the illumined inner life. Sri Chinmoy through his meditations has taught me how
to enter into my tranquil inner self, a stillness free from
the conditionings and fluctuations of my ever-changing external environment. His wisdom has
opened my eyes and heart and taught me to look within to discover the 'real' in myself and to quietly accept and witness life as a continually unfolding experience, free from my rigid concepts or expectations.

Meditation practice:
The core for
this gradual change is my daily meditations.
Every day slowly and
steadily, like looking through an inner window I witness
myself as an integral part of something far greater. In each
meditation I merge with a tranquil vastness of love and harmony. This boundless
inner self is so fulfilling and energising that I quietly seek its embrace in my daily practice.
As an aid in continuing my meditative
experiences and to help me fully appreciate Sri Chinmoy's own meditative consciousness, I began to read Sri Chinmoy's books, identifying powerfully with his poetry. Hundreds of poems and aphorisms, each unique for their extraordinary ability to release
fresh levels of joy and inspiration. Each merges with, lifts and enhances the still consciousness that quietly
resonates from my mornings meditations.
