Inspiration from a spiritual teacher

Hundreds of Sri Chinmoy's students from 70 countries carry the 2006 World Harmony Torches into the opening ceremony at The United Nations, New York.
Attending free meditation classes:
Prior to attending a
series of free meditation classes being given by Sri Chinmoy's
students, I had no knowledge of Indian spiritual Masters', of meditation or the wisdom
and philosophies of these revered spiritual teachers. I learnt that seekers were travelling to the East to study in monasteries and ashrams, and that an
increasing number of spiritual teachers were establishing
meditation centres here in the West.
Questioning why their teachings were being sought, and what lasting
benefits a spiritual Masters' wisdom would bring, I began to
read books by Eastern spiritual Master's.
I noticed a similarity in their teachings and that the thought filled mind had no bearing on spiritual awareness. Spiritual Masters have few dealings with such disturbances, using them purely for comparison - traditionally they deal with the 'higher' levels of consciousness and the wisdom within the silence and depths of the spiritual heart.

The spiritual heart:
The spiritual heart is a physic energy centre that
lies deep within our being. It is within the area of the physical
heart,
but there the similiarity stops. The spiritual heart is not
seen, only felt! If you were asked to desribe what is love,
your answer - a feeling of deep affection! Can you
prove this to someone else, no! You can however describe it
because you know what you
feel, it is real to you. Similiarly, the spiritual heart is real to
someone who meditates, its beauty and power are felt unmistakably.
As Sri Chinmoy says, "Deep within us there is eternal silence, peace and poise. When we are absolutely calm and quiet, we see that the inner life offers us its own energy. Our human mind may not understand this energy, because it does not originate in the mind, but our heart receives this energy from the soul."
