Comments by Sri Chinmoy on a Master's passing

The following extracts have been selected from Sri Chinmoy's book - Death and Reincarnation the Sri Chinmoy's Inspiration web site and Sri Chinmoy Library
When I am united with the Universal Consciousness, I am in everybody.
When a Master leaves the body and sees that his disciples are crying bitterly over their loss, the Master feels sorry because the disciples do not recognise him fully as a spiritual Master. A spiritual person, one who has realised God, lives on all planes; his consciousness pervades all the worlds. So if his disciples cry bitterly for him, feeling that they will see him no more, then they are putting their Master in the same category as an ordinary person . . . The Master knows that he will appear before the disciples who are sincerely praying to him or who are meditating and aspiring sincerely. He knows that he will be all the time guiding, shaping and moulding them. He knows that he will be able to enter into them, and they will be able to enter into him.
Yes, for a while the disciples can feel sad that they have lost their Master, that they will not see him in the physical frame. But that sadness must not last because the soul’s joy, the soul’s intense love and all-pervading concern have to enter into the disciples who have sincerely accepted the Master as the sole pilot of their lives.
When he leaves the body, he is totally free. From the other shore the spiritual Master works through the soul’s light or willpower . . . so from the higher worlds the Master can easily connect with the disciple’s aspiring soul, and the disciple can respond to the Master’s light. It is in this way that the Master can and does and must help the disciple.
Brooding and despondency are the worst foes to kill life in all its divine inspiration. No more brooding, no more despondency. Your life shall become the beauty of a rose, the song of the dawn, the dance of the twilight.
I cherish your hearts. I cherish and treasure each disciple's heart, for that is the only thing that I shall eternally need from each of you. To all the members of the center I wish to say that your hearts are invaluable. It is your hearts that have compelled me to give you what I have and what I am. What I have is eternity's concern, and what I am is sweetest love.
I love you all infinitely, infinitely, infinitely more than you love yourselves. You doubt yourselves, belittle yourselves and you hate yourselves, but I do not do that. I would never dare to hate you or belittle you, not to speak of hurting you, striking you or killing you. I know who you are. You are God's chosen instruments. In you not only do I see God the Supreme, but there have been quite a few occasions when I have seen some of you as God Himself. I want to see everybody as God himself.
So dearest ones, your hearts are not at my feet. Your hearts are inside the very depths of my ever-increasing gratitude. I shall always be carrying you inside the very depths of my heart. And when you go somewhere, you will not go alone, you will go with my heart's blessingful pride and gratitude.
When I am gone away to another world, most of you will still be here on earth. At this time, remember your highest meditation. Experiences you can forget about, they are just juicy stories. But the meditations I have been offering you should remember forever. Quite often these meditations are feeding your souls unreservedly if your souls are aspiring. The souls that are truly aspiring are greedily devouring the immortal gifts that I bring down from above. When the Master is no longer on the physical plane, then the disciple has to remain in contact with the Master through his most sincere and intense meditation.
...If I died today, all the disciples who have accepted me as their Master genuinely and devotedly, (these do not include my followers, admirers and friends, but only my true disciples) would be served by me and would be taken care by me. I am bound. I am the conscious slave of all my disciples. I am at their beck and call no matter where I go. Wherever I go after I leave the earth plane, I shall be inside my disciples. This is always the case if the Guru is a fully realised soul.
…If the Master is a realised soul he can easily maintain an inner contact with his disciples. And he has to do it because he made a solemn and soulful promise to the aspirant that he will take him to God. Even though the Master has gone back to Heaven and the disciple is still on earth, the Master still has to fulfil his promise.
…In New York, I have six or seven followers who had been asked by their own Guru to come to me. When they first saw me, they saw in me their own Master who had left the body three years earlier. The truly selfless Gurus let others carry on for them. But if the original Guru was realised and if he made a promise to you, no matter where he abides after leaving the earth, he has to be within you and with you to help you, even if you stay on earth for another forty or fifty years. In this case it is just like having two rooms. Here is one room, life, and there is another room death. Ordinary people cannot open the door between these two rooms. But the realised Guru has free access to both rooms. So when he opens the life-door he sees you, and when he goes back to his own room, he still has free access to the life-door. So once the realised Guru has made a promise, he is bound to keep it. He will not leave you until he has given you full realisation and has brought you to God.
..But if 'you' is directed towards me, then I wish to say there is no hope, no possibility and no necessity for me to come back to earth. Whatever work is to be done after my death, I will be able to do from Heaven in and through my disciples.
At the end of this lifetime, when I pass through the tunnel of death, I will shed the five sthulas or sheaths and pass through the physical world, the vital world, mental world, and psychic world and then to the region of the soul's consciousness, where I will take rest in my own highest consciousness for as long as the Supreme needs.
..When I die, I know how much inner wealth will never have a chance to manifest through me..
