Aspiration - prayer and meditation

The Wisdom of Sri Chinmoy

Excerpt from Sri Chinmoy's Book - The Wisdom of Sri Chinmoy

Question - How do we aspire?

Sri Chinmoy - We aspire through proper concentration, proper meditation and proper contemplation. Aspiration covers both meditation and prayer. In the West, there were many saints who did not care for meditation; they realised God through prayer. He who is praying feels the need to bring God's Consciousness right into his being. The difference between prayer and meditation is this: when I pray, I talk and God listens; and when I meditate, God talks and I listen. When I pray, God listens. But when I meditate, when I make my mind calm and quiet, I hear what God has always been saying to me. Both ways are correct. ~ Sri Chinmoy

First be a member
Of the inner world.
Then become an adventurer
Of the outer world.
