Where are your thoughts?

Yes where are your thoughts, are they focused on the spontaneity of the clear and uncluttered present moment or lost in the fog of anxiety and worry or the uncertainty of the future, or regrets of the past? Are you witnessing the unfolding nature of current events and circumstances with clarity and discernment in order to make clear and heart felt decisions?

So many of us miss the present moment because of inner turmoil and outer pressures. We are here or there with our thoughts, lost in some instances for weeks at a time. Pondering decisions that were made and how those decisions have affected us, or deep with regret or in denial that we should have listened to that person's advice or listened to our intuition, or worrying about the remote future.

And every now and then you pause and wonder why your life is unbalanced, unsatisfying and chaotic. It's because you are barely there to witness it, you are somewhere else with your thoughts! Don't you owe it to yourself to simply your life so you can be the witness to your life's here and now?

According to yogic law today's actions and thoughts create our tomorrows. The good and bad karma you generate with each activity and thought comes back to you in this and future incarnations. If you are not fully aware of the present moment then how are you able to make clear and heart felt decisions that convey the sincerity, love, compassion and joy of your heart. All these virtues are qualities that offer positive awareness, or good karma.

To deny yourself the opportunity with the best of your intentions to create positive karma is to leave yourself open to the vibrations of negative karma, as a direct result of your pre-occupation to spend extended periods of time with your own self. Around you you miss the ebb and flow of friends, colleague's or your family's lives where they could prosper and benefit with your kindness, love, wisdom, compassion and concern.

To help bring yourself back to the present moment it is advisable to practice the art of meditation. By its very nature the spontaneous unfolding of meditation keep you focused on the uncluttered opportunities of the now. Here the qualities of the spiritual heart flow into your life bringing with them focus, clarity and awareness. Here you are fully aware that each moment is a golden opportunity to transcend any doubts, fears, anxieties or any other negative qualities seeing you spending longer and longer periods in the beauty of the spiritual hearts spontaneous, willing and enthusiastic now.

Sri Chinmoy the meditation teacher says, (1) "Of course, in the ordinary life we think about ourselves most of the time-how we can become great and famous, how we can do this, how we can get that. Sometimes we also think about the world or about other people. We think that someone else is greater than we, that mankind does not appreciate us, that the world is callous or senseless or useless. We do not think of the world with love; we think of it with jealousy or anger. And very often we think more about the world than we think about ourselves. But in any case, our whole mind is occupied with thoughts, either of ourselves or of others. We use up all our time on useless thoughts and unaspiring people find their whole life occupied either with their own desires or with feelings of jealousy, insecurity and inferiority".
