How to positively prepare yourself for each day

Wouldn't it be wonderful to spring out of bed each day, with not a care in the world, not weighed down by any concerns, worries or anxieties, ready to start the day with enthusiasm, eagerness and an open and free heart.

Unfortunately there aren't many who do. The main point to be made here is that you certainly can start your day with a still, clear, positive and calm attitude one that will bring happiness, contentment, clarity, poise, newness, fulfilment and love into your every day.

So what is the key? Not one particular thing but a number of factors generally contribute to this refreshed awareness for life. When was the last time you woke offering gratitude to God or to the universe for all that they have brought into your life? Not brought as in material wealth or possessions but the wealth of your health, the love for your family, the sense of fulfilment within your job, your caring attitudes about life, the closeness of your friends, the memories of the places you have travelled to, the love you feel for a pet, the effort you extend in your sporting endeavours, the achievements of your children, the music you love to play or hear, your personal growth, your creative endeavours, your self-giving kindness, the joy of your garden, the people or places that inspire you and all of the things that make you special, uniquely you!

These are all precious gifts and awareness that you have because God has brought them into your life. How easy it is not to have not realised that yet or to have forgotten about them when we are so often bogged down and feel no gratitude when we are caught and trapped by the negative conditionings of the mind. Its gloom, worries, fears, stresses, concerns, anxieties, unkindness, ego, selfishness and anger cloud our hearts joyous and spontaneous capacity to help us to wake each day with love, enthusiasm, joy and gratitude in our heart's.

The simplest, easiest and most powerful way to develop an open and grateful heart so as to transform the negative conditionings of the mind is to meditate. The spiritual heart keeps you in a state of newness and openness, to live in the present moment, to lovingly give and at the same time be fully aware and grateful for the unfolding opportunities, kindness, joy and acts of compassion that weave there way through each day. As a result, after meditating each morning you will start your day with positive, clear and awakened heart and a calm and free mind.

Sri Chinmoy the meditation teacher says, (1) "Each morning we make tremendous improvement in our life through meditation. This is the only way of improving any part of life; there is no other way to make abiding progress...to offer gratitude to the positive aspects of life... to pay attention to the beauty, wonder and spontaneous nature of life through the silence and peace of our self-giving heart".
