Humanity can live harmoniously
It may come as a surprise for you to know that the flow on effect from your your smallest effort does make a significant difference, far greater in fact than the initial act. Every moment of kindness, every sincere thought and every selfless gesture are actions of self-giving and these have a transforming and positive effect on countless individuals.
If humanity is to prosper in oneness then we its people need to reassess how we interact with our fellow man and this will depend directly on our values and what beliefs we hold closest to our heart's.
If you were to imagine yourself standing in a very large pool, a pool that contained millions of other individuals. Every movement of yours no matter how small would be recorded as a ripple, as will everyone elses.
Your thoughts and resulting actions may be unseen by most, but they are not unfelt. They radiate as ripples of intention, or karma. If these ripples are created with a loving, self-giving heart full of kindness and compassion then many will feel inspired and loved. If however they are created with a selfish mind full of mistrust, suspicion and jealousy, then many will feel unsettled, fearful and threatened.
Everyone's daily thoughts are mirrored in their actions. We all have the choice of whether to make them positive or negative. If they are negative then negative karma will be created, which at some point will need to be answered. If they are positive then good karma is being created which at some point will be returned.
Ours and other individual's thoughts and actions are constantly radiating out from there source, flowing through countless lives, each affected by their influences. They are not restricted by international borders, mountain ranges, oceans or obstacles, they are universal.
The concept of oneness will need to become a term universally understood and sincerely practiced if humanity's dream of living a peaceful co-existence is ever to become a reality. We see some parallels today with global warming, where one country's pollution affects countless individuals in a distant country threatening their livelihoods or existence. Similarly our negative thoughts and actions pollute the lives of countless individuals in our immediate vicinity and those unseen.
The surest way to develop within any generation an individual's ability to live harmoniously with their fellow man is for their children to grow in a supportive family environment of love, joy and spiritual values. Children should be encouraged to practice the timeless principles of inner awareness and outer kindness, discovered through the practice of meditation, prayer, contemplation and community service.
Children shall then grow into well balanced adults embodying the principles of compassion, sincerity, unconditional love, selflessness, concern, tolerance, respect and happiness. Isn't it time that we the adults of the world strived to put aside our differences and offered to our precious children a chance to live the lives that we all so desperately want - one of peace and happiness.
Sri Chinmoy the meditation teacher says, (1) "Each individual has to try to make others happy, for it is only through happiness that we can have peace. If we can offer happiness to someone lovingly and sincerely, then that person will have only goodwill towards us.
So from happiness we get peace, and from peace we get happiness. Unfortunately this world of ours has not yet seen the face or felt the heart of peace...because we are trying to bring about peace with our mind's brilliance and splendour...as long as we try to establish peace on the strength of our mind's capacities, we shall sadly fail. The experiences of the heart strengthen us, expand our horizons, and make us feel that we are all members of one family, with one home, abiding peace".
